What In-Home ABA Therapy Actually Looks Like

We design therapy around your child's real life, not a clinical setting.

Your Child Stays Comfortable

Therapy happens where your child already feels safe, their home and surroundings. No unfamiliar waiting rooms.

Real Routines Are the Curriculum

Our RBTs target the skills your child actually needs, getting dressed, eating meals, transitioning between activities, embedded in your daily routine.

You Are Part of Every Session

Parents are coached on the strategies used in sessions, creating consistency throughout the day, not just during therapy hours.

A Typical In-Home Session

Here is what families can expect when their RBT arrives:
ARRIVAL

RBT Greets Your Child

The RBT arrives and settles in, building rapport before structured work begins. The same therapist in every session builds real trust over time.
EARLY

Structured Learning Activities

Targeted skill-building based on your child's individualized treatment plan — communication, social skills, or daily living tasks.
MID

Natural Environment Teaching

Skills are practiced in real contexts — at the dinner table, during play, or on the way to the mailbox — for natural generalization.
CLOSE

Parent Debrief and Data Review

The RBT shares what was worked on and how your child performed. Data is recorded and reviewed by the BCBA supervisor.

In-Home ABA Therapy
Your Questions Answered

More Questions? Call Us
Is in-home ABA therapy as effective as clinic-based therapy?

Yes, and for many children, it is more effective. Skills learned at home generalize more naturally because it is the environment the child lives in. Research strongly supports in-home ABA.

Who comes to our home? Are they licensed?

A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) conducts sessions. Every RBT works under the direct supervision of a licensed Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). You will meet your therapist before sessions begin.

Do we need to prepare anything for sessions?

Not much. Our RBTs bring what they need and work with items already in your home. They will let you know ahead of time if anything specific would be helpful.

Does Medicaid cover in-home ABA therapy?

Yes. NC Medicaid covers ABA therapy for children with an autism diagnosis. iCare Therapy is a Medicaid-accepting provider, and we handle all benefit verification and prior authorization on your behalf.

How many hours per week will my child receive?

Hours are based on your child's individual needs as determined by the BCBA assessment and insurance authorization. We will walk you through the recommendations during your consultation.

How quickly can we get started?

Most families begin sessions within weeks of their intake completion. We work to minimize wait times as much as possible for every new family.
